Our K-4 program is a weekly, hour long session held in the Church hall. Tables are set up throughout the hall by grade. Students sit at their grade table. The main lesson of the session is parent led, using a lesson plan prepared ahead of time by the Director of Religious Education. Parents take turns leading the lessons as they feel comfortable. The class concludes with group prayer, led by the Director.

• Sessions begin  a week or two after Labor Day.
• There are several days/times of sessions because it is a parent led program.
• Families come to the session that best suits their schedule that week.

• Parents bring, stay with, and guide their children.
• Seating is by grade-level tables.
• At most, 6 children and their accompanying parent (or parent’s delegate) per table.
• Children receiving First Communion (most often Second graders) are always accompanied by their parent.

• Weekly sessions are an hour long.
• One lesson-chapter in the child’s text book is covered each week.
• The hour is structured as follows:
  • Opening Prayer (at table) and settling in (5 mins)
  • Read and complete the Lesson, following the lesson plan provided. (30 mins)
  • Activity: “hands-on” craft related to Lesson or Liturgical Season (15 mins)
  • Community Closing Prayer – led by the Director. (10 mins)
