"The Vocation Ministry desires to encourage, celebrate, and aid in nurturing ALL vocations including those of the religious life, marriage, and the single life. We are building a community of those discerning and already practicing their vocations."
The Vocations Ministry strives to organize events and provide resources to those interested in learning about and/or pursuing their vocation further. Whether it be discerning the priesthood, marriage, religious life, or the single life, we want to provide the parish with an abundant amount of opportunities to learn about (discern) what their vocation might be and to grow in their vocation. If anyone wishes to discern their vocation on their own at all, we can help them with that too through resources that we have accumulated thus far.
There are many things we would like to do in the future to aid those discerning their vocation but there is still more planning to do. Some things we HAVE done are two live-streamed rosaries via Facebook. The first was for the World Day of Prayer at the beginning of May and the second was for the World Day of Prayer for Priests in mid-June. Both were successful but we hope to gather more people in the future.
We are starting off a bit slow due to the pandemic but we ultimately plan on hosting/inviting others to participate in more vocational based events. At the moment we are in the process of planning a movie night in the parish hall called All or Nothing: Sr. Clare Crockett. In short, this movie is a documentary about an actress who converted to Catholicism and became a religious sister who gave her all to God.
We plan to collaborate with other groups in the parish for some future events at some point as well, but we are still in our planning phase. For example, if we want to introduce the different vocations to those in the catechism classes, we would plan to collaborate with the Director of Religious Education (DRE), to come up with an event or activity that would engage them in learning about vocations.
We are all called to love and serve God, and our vocation is how we accomplish that. If you need some help discerning what your vocation is, please read our Discernment Packet.
